Is there a waiting list on classes at full capacity?

Learn how the waiting list works when a class reaches full capacity in MAAT.

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Yes, when a class reaches full capacity, a waiting list becomes available. Students can still sign up even if the class is full. If a spot opens up, the first student on the waiting list will be automatically enrolled and notified.

How It Works

1) For Students

What happens when a class is full?

  • When the class capacity is reached, the “Join class” action becomes a Waiting List option.

  • Students can still sign up by joining the waiting list.

Can students see their position?

  • Yes.

  • After joining the waiting list, the student can see:

    • Their exact position in the waiting list

    • How many people need to drop out before a spot becomes available

This helps students decide whether it’s likely they’ll make it into the class.

What happens when a spot becomes available?

  • As soon as a spot frees up:

    • The first student in the waiting list is automatically added to the class

    • No manual action is required from the student

  • The student receives a push notification on their phone confirming:

    • They’ve been added to the class

    • They are now officially enrolled and can attend the session

2) For Managers

How can I see the waiting list?

  • Open the class

  • Click the button “View Waiting List” in the top-right corner

  • You’ll see:

    • The total number of people in the waiting list

    • The full list of names, ordered by position

Do I need to manually move students into the class?

  • No.

  • The system automatically manages the waiting list:

    • When a spot opens, the next student in line is pulled in automatically

    • This ensures fair access and reduces manual admin work
