How do free trials on top of memberships work?

Learn how free trials are applied and managed alongside memberships in MAAT.

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Free trials allow academies to offer students a set number of days to train for free before their first payment is processed.

When a student signs up for a membership with a trial, they still enter their payment details and “pay” as normal, but the charge will only be made once the trial period ends.

Step-by-Step Guide

1) Set the Free Trial Days

  • When creating a membership plan, you can set the number of free trial days.

  • These days count from the moment the student adds their payment details.

  • Example: If you set “7 trial days,” the first charge will only happen after those 7 days are over

2) Student Sign-Up Process

  • The student selects the membership plan and enters their payment details.

  • They click "Pay", but no payment is processed immediately.

  • The membership is active in trial mode until the trial days expire.

3) During the Trial Period

  • Students can attend classes without being charged.

  • On the Members Page, their status shows as “Trialing”.

4) Canceling During the Trial

  • If a student does not wish to continue, they must contact the admin.

  • If the admin cancels the membership before the trial ends, no payment will be taken.
