Step-by-Step Guide
In MAAT:
Open the Student Profile
Access the student profile from:
Class booking
Leaderboard
The Members page in Manager Mode.
Scroll to Membership
Scroll down to the Membership section.
Click Pause Subscription
Tap on Pause Subscription
Select how you want to pause the subscription:
Indefinitely: Use this if the student does not know when they will come back, for example due to an injury.
Skip Next Payment: Use this if the student only needs to skip one payment.
Until Custom Date: Use this if the student will be away for a specific period of time, for example two months for work.
Resume Subscription
If you want to resume the subscription earlier than the defined period, click Resume Subscription and tap it again to confirm.
In Stripe:
Find the Subscription
Open the Stripe Dashboard.
Search for the student by name or email.
Click the three dots next to their active subscription.
Click "Pause Subscription."
Pause Payment Collection
Choose How Long to Pause Collection
From here, you can choose how long you would like to stop collecting payments for the subscription:
Indefinitely
Until a Custom Date
Choose the Invoice Behaviour:
The Invoice behaviour setting does not significantly affect the result in this case.In general, we recommend selecting "Mark as uncollectible", but choosing "Draft" or "Void" will not affect the subscription pause itself.
Confirm the Pause
You will then see that payment collection for the subscription has been paused either indefinitely or until the date you selected.
Important Notes
No Double Charges: Using a trial ensures the customer is not billed twice.
Prorations: Stripe automatically pauses billing until the trial ends.
Credits: You don’t need to manually refund or credit previous payments — the trial simply delays the next one.
Customer View: students will see that their “next payment is due on [new date].”
So, if you pause a student’s membership using this method, they will still be able to train on MAAT and won’t be notified that their membership has been paused.
This is different from pausing them directly from MAAT.
