Kiosk Mode turns your gym device into a self-service check-in station.
Students can use it to register for classes, confirm their attendance, or check in manually if they do not have their phone.
It is especially useful for kids, parents, and less tech-savvy students who may need a simpler way to check in at the gym.
Step-by-step Guide:
1. Enable Kiosk Mode
Kiosk Mode is disabled by default.
To enable it, contact MAAT Support.
2. Choose Your Kiosk Settings
Contact us if you want to change:
How long it takes before the screensaver starts
Whether the screensaver shows a video or an image carousel
How would you like to exit the Kiosk Mode
This helps you keep the kiosk branded and easy to use inside your gym.
3. Open Kiosk Mode
You can open Kiosk Mode from the Daily Overview in the Manger Mode
To access it:
Tap Switch to Manager from your Profile page to access Manager Mode.
Tap Daily Overview if you’re not taken there automatically.
Select Kiosk Mode in the top right corner
Select "I understand how to exit the kiosk mode" than click on Confirm
The kiosk will open on the class schedule for the current day.
4. Registering to a Class
Students can register to a class from the kiosk in different ways.
Fast Check-in:
Fast Check-in is the recommended experience.
Students who already registered for class from the MAAT app can scan Can scan the Kiosk QR code to confirm their attendance.
This removes the need for a coach or admin to manually approve them at the class.
The kiosk will automatically check the student into their next registered class.
Register & Check-in
Students can directly register to the class directly from the kiosk
This option is used when the student didn't previosly registered with their phone
To do this:
Tap the class on the kiosk screen
Scan the class-specific QR Code
Note:
We recommend students register from the MAAT app before coming to class for the fastest experience.
Search by Name
Students can also find themselves manually.
This option is used when the student does not have a phone.
To do this:
Tap the class on the kiosk screen
Tap Search by Name
Search for the student profile
Enter the date of birth as a identity check
Confirm the check-in
5. Confirm Check-in from the Class List
If a student is already registered for a class, they can also tap their name from the class list.
They will be asked to confirm their identity using their birthday code.
After confirmation, MAAT will register their attendance.
6. Understand Class Statuses
The kiosk automatically opens around the current time of day.
(e.g. If it is 11:00am, the kiosk will show the schedule around 11:00am)
Class statuses may appear differently:
Grey classes are past classes, but students are still able to register by tapping on them
Closed classes are not available for registration
7. Exit Kiosk Mode
There are different ways to exit Kiosk Mode.
Depending on your kiosk settings, MAAT will show you the correct exit method.
You may be able to exit by:
Pressing and holding with 3 fingers
Tapping quickly 5 times
Closing and reopening the app
Important:
Only managers or admins should exit Kiosk Mode because, after exiting it, you'll be in Manager Mode with access to all the admin only tools.
8. Use Kiosk Mode on iPad
For the best experience, use Kiosk Mode on an iPad.
The iPad experience is smoother, easier to scan, and better for students checking in before class.
You can also use Kiosk Mode from a phone, but the experience is less recommended.
On mobile, students need to tap "Scan to Register" to open the QR code scanner.
9. Enable Guided Access on iPad
If you use an iPad, we recommend enabling Guided Access.
Guided Access helps lock the iPad inside the MAAT app.
This prevents students from:
Closing the app
Opening other apps
Pulling down the control center
Accessing manager areas
To set it up, follow Apple’s official guide here:
https://support.apple.com/en-gb/111795
Important:
Guided Access is an Apple setting, not a MAAT setting and it's available only on iPad, not on Android's Tablet
Note:
For the best experience, we recommend using Kiosk Mode on an iPad placed in a visible area of the gym.
10. Installation Guide
Choose your kiosk setup based on where the iPad will be placed and how much supervision it will have.
Supervised iPad
Use this setup when the iPad is placed in a supervised area, like the reception desk.
Recommended setup:
Guided Access enabled

Security: Low
Installation Cost: Low
Unsupervised iPad — High-Trust Area
Use this setup when the iPad is placed in an unsupervised but trusted area, like near the changing rooms.
Recommended setup:
Guided Access enabled
Stable floor or desk stand (e.g. https://tinyurl.com/2sfpakdk)
Good visibility for students
Security: Medium
Installation Cost: Medium
Unsupervised iPad — Low-Trust Area
Use this setup when the iPad is placed in an unsupervised area, like near the entrance or front door.
Recommended setup:
Guided Access enabled
Locked kiosk case with keys (e.g. https://tinyurl.com/4mbzruex)
Floor stand drilled or secured to the floor
Charging cable protected or hidden
Security: High

Note:
For all setups, we recommend using an iPad with Guided Access enabled. This helps keep the device locked inside the MAAT app.
